TSN GO Review. Great Sports Entertainment Right on Your Phone
This iOS and Android mobile tool connects you with TSN, Canada’s favorite sports broadcasting channel. Get the exclusive line-up of sports with updates, stats, scores, analysis, and features straight on your device.
The trademark red and black TSN colors on the iOS and Android app make the impressive graphics stand out, and you’ll quickly get used to the UI which most TSN users are already familiar with. The live streams consist of HD sets from games and live studio commentary. All the tiles are neatly organized, and you can view scoreboards, news, and videos all arranged under separate tabs. The video quality is excellent. I like the idea behind the design, and I rarely do this but will give the app a 10/10 in this section simply because I couldn’t find any flaw in it.
With the TSN app, you can view scores, updates, stream live games, tune in to live studio commentary and get other bonus content from the top leagues around the world right on your Google Android, iPhone or iPad. With the app, you will also be able to catch nightly editions of SportsCentre. You can catch Breaking News alerts and live broadcasts from TSN’s live television and radio stations, and also get up to the minute news coverage and sports coverage from all your favorite sports anchors including my very best, Pierre Lebrun.
The app gives you the ability to customize your own scoreboard. If you are a sports betting fan, you can keep up to the minute with the Game Tracker. Once you get the APK or IPA, you’ll need to sign in and select Bell MTS as your TV service provider.
This is an app for all Android devices and iOS gadgets too. The app rates at a 9/10 for me in its features.
The app is easy to navigate and has excellent streaming quality. However, you won’t get Chromecast support with this app which is a big let-down for me. Some videos are not available to watch outside of Canada, and I didn’t quite understand why this was so. The APK version doesn’t support tablets, and this was a major disappointment for me.
There are too many pop-up ads on the app, and this takes away from its ease of use. The app also crashes too often even when you try to install the latest updates. I didn’t enjoy the app too much; therefore, it rates at a 5/10 for me.
Both the App Store and Google Play app for TSN Go are free. There are no in-app purchases although you’ll need a Bell account to subscribe to TSN Go.
The Bottom Line
The TSN Go app is well-designed, but it is not enough to be the leading sports app in my book. The app buffers too much and there is no tablet support so I couldn’t use this on my Samsung tab. The worst part of the entire experience was the fact that there was no Chromecast support, even after the support promised to do something on the latest version.
I personally prefer the SportsNet app to TSN GO many times over and wouldn’t recommend the latter to anyone.
