NHL App Review. Keeps You in the Loop on All Your Scores and Stats

The official NHL sports tool keeps you in the know about all your favorite NHL teams. Access news, scores, transfer gossip, broadcasts, the Free Game of the Week on NHL TV, game highlights and all the hockey madness right on your iPhone, iPad or Android mobile.

Interface

The design of both the iOS and Google Play app for NHL is seamless and intuitive. The UI conveniently categorizes everything you need under various menu options, and you can quickly access various features from videos, highlights, reviews, stats, and replays with a simple tap. With easy navigation through the multiple screens using a scroll tab at the top, a customizable home screen to show all your favorite updates and teams, and access to all your social accounts in just one spot, the design rates highly for me. The only thing is the font size on the UI is quite small. Nevertheless, the interface rates at a 9/10 for me.

Key Features

With this app, you will be able to access video playback and highlights from the most popular games, as well as being able to watch post-game commentary, key plays, and stats for top Players and scorers. With a subscription to NHL.TV, you can watch out-of-market games and games of the week.

Keep up to date with scores, highlights, and all the latest news and customize your app to filter all the latest from your favorite teams. You can also access numerous features within the ROGERS NHL Live such as past game streams, radio broadcasts, access to Home Plus and a host of other features only available within Canada. You can set up notifications for all your favorite teams and never miss a moment. The app only offers a widget for the iOS version but not for Google Android.

This is an app for all Android devices and Apple gadgets, with only slight variations between the two designs.

The APK requires Android 4.2 or higher and iOS 9.0 or later for Apple devices. The Features rate at a 9/10 for me.

Usability

The recent updates have given the app a breath of fresh air, and the UI on the latest version is even better than the last. You can easily navigate through the various screens and options although the fonts on some pages are quite small. The NHL app is generally very easy to use, and I didn’t encounter any hitches using this app, save for a few freezes which weren’t too common. I rate it at a 9/10.

The regular IPA and APK are free. NHL premium, however, requires a subscription of $2.99 monthly or $19.99 yearly. With a premium subscription, you get two minutes of live sport in regulation zones with no blackout restrictions. It also gets you ads-free and access to exclusive in-game commentary and highlights. For NHL.TV you’ll need to part with $24.99 per month.

Bottom Line

Though the premium app is a bit pricey, I’d recommend it to any NHL fan who wants to keep in touch and who can’t be there for every live game. There are other NHL apps I’ve tried before, but this one is definitely the leading for me. I love the most that this iOS and Android app allows me to watch key plays and core moments with highlights.
