NFL Sunday Ticket App Review. Awesome Football Live Streams on Your Device
If you don’t want to miss out on your daily dose of football programming, the iOS or Google Play app for NFL Sunday Ticket is just the app for you. Stream live, out-of-market games with DIRECTV and keep up-to-date with scores, stats, and commentary about the Football season on your Android mobile, iPhone or iPad.
The APK and iOS interface ranks at 6/10 because it is simple and I was able to navigate through the various sections with much ease. The video quality is excellent for the most part, apart from a few occasions when the app buffers. The UI is pleasurable especially on the latest version, without the score updates taking up half your screen space, with video stream at the top of the screen and other options below it, and with great soundtracks to go with it.
This leading tool lets you watch live streams of NFL out-of-market games, and you’ll also be able to view streams on the Red Zone, and Fantasy Zone shows while keeping tabs on highlights and stats.
Local blackout rules may apply for some games, and you might only be able to watch these on your local sports channels such as Fox and CBS. You can check stats on the week’s best Players, touchdowns, and passes. However, this app doesn’t give you the ability to record games.
You’ll need to log in to your DirecTV account to be able to stream these games. Customers must also subscribe to the Max Season Pass to access the Red Zone Channel and DirecTV Fantasy Zone channels. These features get a 6/10 rating because they require a subscription and heavy internet, and you can’t get games even for the hefty monthly subscription. You can only enjoy this app within the US. This is an app for all Android devices (Android 4.4 or higher) and iOS gadgets (9.0 or later).
I’ll give this section a rating of 6/10. Though I liked the overall design of the app and the streaming quality, it has major glitches some of which the regular updates couldn’t fix. The app suffers buffering, and I even tested it with dedicated bandwidth but still experienced this. For a service that charges such a big monthly amount, you’d expect that they have reliable support, but their staff doesn’t seem to know much about the app themselves.
The scores updates clutter the screen half the time, and you can’t fully enjoy the game.
Both the iOS and Android apps are free. However, to access content from your DirecTV account, you’ll need to part with $49.99 monthly which isn’t cheap. Even then, you won’t be able to watch some streams due to local broadcasting rules. There are no in-app purchases for this app.
The Bottom Line
I don’t think I’d recommend this app just yet. This IPA or APK download is lackluster and a bit pricey. Sometimes I feel like it’s just better to watch your local sports channel although accessing the out-of-market games is worth it. If not for buffering and the unreliable customer service, I might have enjoyed this app. Both Google Android and iOS apps restrict you from logging into multiple devices, which shouldn’t be the case with a subscription.
