Map My Run is a cool health & productivity app for everyone who’d like to stay fit and healthy. It helps you track every run, get feedback to improve your performance, and be social by sharing your achievements with friends. Interested? Let’s take a closer look!
The app has a neat minimalistic design, and the interface is rather clear and intuitive. I like how maps and charts help you visualize the training process, and photos posted by your friends seem to increase and keep your own motivation. And the opening is slightly inspiring as well! Overall, I give the app a solid 10/10 for its design.
Basically, Map My Run is an app for anyone who’s into sports. You can choose from various activities such as running, cycling, gym workouts, yoga, and many more. Also, you can connect with other apps to improve your performance. For instance, I’ve connected with MyFitnessPal to keep track of burned calories, and there should be many other apps you can sync Map My Run with.
I like the routes feature that helps you find nearby places to run, save your favorite routes, and share them with friends. And if your run is GPS-tracked, you can get audio feedback for your route, distance, pace, and other stats. I find this feature to be very useful no matter whether you are a professional athlete, an amateur or a starter. Just keep in mind that GPS-tracked running can dramatically drain your phone’s battery.
On Activity Feed, you can track the progress of your friends, and that can be pretty motivating. The app also lets you share your own achievements on social media like Facebook and Twitter, so it’s a nice way not only to have a workout but also to tell the world about it.
The app is free, although there is a premium version that features special functions and blocks commercials. With the Map My Run premium version, you can create a personal training plan, set goals, and monitor your heart rate zones in order to adjust your training based on your goal. So, paid features are very useful, though I believe the free version itself is a great help, too.
Map My Run is compatible with Android and iOS. You can also download it on Apple Watch, although I’ve seen people complaining about issues occurred when using the app on Apple Watch.
I would give Map My Run 9/10 for its free features.
I’m satisfied with the app as it works pretty well. It’s convenient and easy-to-use, not to mention various handy features. There are some bugs and fails that occur from time to time.
For example, there were a couple of times when the app dropped my mileage by nearly a full mile which is a decent distance for me. So, if you’re training, let’s say, for a marathon, using other tools to measure distance can be a good idea.
Because there are some other minor shortcomings, the overall convenience and performance of the app get 6/10.
Map My Run is a good running tracker that suits runners the best but also can be used for other kinds of workouts. The app helps you keep track of your activities, take care of your health, and stay motivated. What else do you need from a health app like this?
